Drug Test Cups

Drug Test Cups - Medical Distribution Group

Qualitative drug testing devices sometimes referred to as Point of Care testing (POCT) are used to detect the presence of a drug metabolite in human urine.  There are two methods in which one can screen urine for drugs of abuse: Presumptive and Definitive.

Drug testing cups and Drug testing Dips are the primary method when testing with in the physician office setting.  Drug Testing Cups are popular because they offer an all in one procedure.  Cups relieve the worry of unwanted spills, smells and or germ contamination.  Dip cards that encapsulate test strips can also be used as a way to selectively chose which drug you want to test for or when you want to test.   It is important to remember Drug test cups and dips only offer a presumptive or qualitative result.  If you are looking for a higher complexity test please consider a chemistry analyzer or LCMS.

Presumptive testing can also be performed using a Chemistry Analyzer.  Analyzers can offer Semi Quantitative results and or qualitative results.  Semi Quantitative results do offer a more accurate reading in the form of a range but insurance still regards this as a qualitative test.

The Science

Drug screening cups use lateral flow chromatographic Immunoassay for the qualitative detection of a drug or its metabolite.   The immunoassay is used in vitro meaning outside their normal biological content; for example metabolites are examined in the urine only after it has been discharged from the body.

Point of care devices that are CLIA waived have been testing and are required to be easy to interpret, highly accurate and FDA approved.   99% of the products we sell here are Medical Distribution Group are CLIA Waived.

Why Test

Drug Testing devices have been around for many years.  They are used by business owners, physicians and concerned parents from around the world.  If you are concerned about drug consumption drug testing cups are a great tool to learn more.  We like to consider drug testing as a conversation starter.  Since many drug test kits can have cross reaction and or false positives we encourage the results to be used as a way to start the discussion of drug use.
